I hope you’re reading this summer! Remember, you can bring back your reading log and a reading activity when school starts in order to be able to participate in our reading celebration. Need ideas for reading activities? Here are a few from the handout we gave you at our reading night back in June!
- Fold a piece of paper into 3 sections. Draw and write what happened in the beginning in the first section, the middle in the second section and the end in the last section.
- Choose a character from the story. Create an image of that character using crayons, construction paper, scissors, glue, or other items you can find around the house. Use clues from the story to make the character look like they do in the story.
- Create a picture that looks like the setting in the story. For example, if the story happens in the woods, there should be trees. If it takes place in the city, there should be tall buildings.
- Fold a piece of paper into 2 sections. Label the first section “Problem” and the second section “Solution”. On the “Problem” side, draw and write about the problem in the story. On the other side draw and write the solution to the story.
- Create an art project that tells something that happened in the story. You may want to use paint, clay, crayons, glue, scissors, construction paper or anything else you can dream up.
